100 global energy companies say the internet of things is the key to a green future

According to a new report from Inmarsat, many large energy companies believe the Internet of things is key to improving environmental sustainability and reducing the cost of decarbonization in the industry. The report surveyed 100 power and utility companies around the world about the use of Internet of things technology. More than half of respondents said the monitoring environment was the main driver of the Internet of things adoption in the energy sector. In addition, 47 percent of respondents identified cost-saving opportunities as the main driver, while 44 percent used monitoring of customer engagement as the main driver.
